Senior Presentations
The culmination of a Unity education, where seniors demonstrate everything they have learned to think, speak, and write with excellence.
Celebrating the journey. Reflecting on faith. Looking toward the future.
The Senior Portfolio Project is an opportunity for students to reflect on their years at Unity Christian School and consider how their education has shaped their faith, character, worldview, and vision for the future.
Throughout their time at Unity, students have been challenged not only to gain knowledge but also to understand that all areas of learning can be viewed through the lens of a biblical worldview. This culminating project asks students to thoughtfully consider how their education has prepared them to take the next step in their journey beyond Unity.
The project consists of two components, a written portfolio and a presentation, with each component representing 50% of the project grade.
Written Portfolio
The written portfolio provides students with an opportunity to examine how their biblical worldview has developed throughout their education at Unity. Students reflect on what they have learned and identify ways biblical principles and a Christian perspective have been demonstrated throughout their studies.
Students explore five academic areas, considering the essential elements of a biblical worldview in each and supporting their ideas with specific examples from their coursework at Unity:
- Bible: Old Testament, New Testament, Systematic Theology, and Apologetics
- Literature: novels, authors, themes, and literary works studied throughout high school
- History: World History, American History, Government, and Economics
- Science: Biology, Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Astronomy, Forensics, Anatomy & Physiology, and Physics
- Mathematics: Algebra I and II, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, and Financial Algebra
Connecting Faith and Learning
An important part of the project is demonstrating that a biblical worldview extends beyond the Bible classroom. Students consider questions such as:
- How has my understanding of God’s truth influenced the way I approach this subject?
- What biblical principles have shaped my understanding of the world?
- How have my classes challenged or strengthened my faith?
- How can I apply what I have learned as I move beyond Unity?
Students may incorporate relevant Scripture, biblical principles, and quotations from works studied at Unity to support their reflections. Scripture is used thoughtfully and in its proper context, and all outside sources and quotations are appropriately cited.
Looking Toward the Future
The project culminates with students reflecting on the person they have become and the person they hope to become. In their conclusion and presentation, students develop a personal vision statement addressing the question: where do I see the education, faith, and experiences I have gained at Unity Christian School leading me in the future?
Students consider how their Unity experience has prepared them to pursue their calling, serve others, make wise decisions, and live out their faith in college, career, and beyond.
A Culminating Reflection
The Senior Portfolio Project is more than an academic assignment. It is a chance for students to pause and recognize the growth that has taken place during their years at Unity, celebrate the ways God has worked through their education and experiences, and look forward with purpose to the journey ahead.
Our hope is that each student leaves Unity prepared not only with the knowledge necessary for the next chapter, but with a biblical worldview, a strong sense of purpose, and a vision for how God can use their life for His glory.
