Admissions Criteria
How Unity evaluates applications, what we look for in a partnership with families, and the records required before a student can begin.
The following are Unity’s policies regarding admittance. The full policy document is available to download below.
Philosophy
The primary reason for the existence of Unity Christian School is to provide a Christian education for children from Christian families. By “Christian families,” Unity means those families who believe and are committed to the Scriptural principles enunciated in the Unity Statement of Faith. This is in harmony with the fact that the school views itself as an extension of the Christian home as it fulfills its Biblical responsibility for the educating of children.
Admission Requirement
Admission is limited to Christian families in which at least one parent expresses a clear testimony of salvation through Jesus Christ and agreement with the Scriptural principles enumerated in the Unity Statement of Faith. Parents must be willing to sign the Unity parental Statement of Faith and Standard of Community Life. All parents are interviewed as outlined in the policy, and students must successfully pass entrance testing requirements.
Non-Discrimination Policy
Unity admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students. Unity does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, tuition assistance programs, athletics, the arts and other school-administered programs.
Parent Participation
The Lion’s Pride PTO plays a vital role in supporting the school through service projects and activities, and there are Athletic and Fine Arts Booster Clubs as well. God has given parents the responsibility of raising children (Ephesians 6:1-4, Psalm 127:3, Deuteronomy 6:6-9). The relationship between Unity and parents is a partnership in which parental participation is both welcomed and encouraged.
Parent and Student Interviews
Once all required enrollment forms are received, a school administrator conducts an interview with the applicant’s parents, and with the student in grades 6 through 12. The interview confirms that:
- at least one parent believes in and is committed to the Scriptural principles enunciated in the Unity Statement of Faith;
- the parents’ desire is for a Christian education for their child;
- parents have an understanding of Christian education;
- family beliefs and practices are consistent with the standards and values of Unity;
- the child, if high school age, expresses a desire to attend Unity and agrees to live in harmony with school standards;
- academic records, health records, and references are reviewed and found acceptable under the standard set by Unity;
- students with a history of behavioral problems have cleared their records with previous schools and now demonstrate a commitment to a changed lifestyle;
- any questions that parents or students may have are answered.
Placement Testing
All students transferring from an accredited institution have their classes accepted at face value. Students in 1st through 12th grade are asked to take a placement test, and grades or courses with two tracks may require a placement test for advanced placement. High school students seeking admission must produce an official school transcript and most recent report card, along with previous school records indicating any standardized testing. Unity administration determines the appropriateness of the information received and the level of testing required.
Records
All records must be on file before a student will be allowed to attend school.

Admission Decisions
Standard Admission is offered to students who meet all requirements for enrollment. Probationary Admission may be set due to extenuating circumstances arising from a student’s academic or behavioral profile, and can last from one term to the entire academic year. Progress is monitored and evaluated throughout, with a decision made as to continued enrollment.
A student who receives disciplinary action at their current school must satisfy that disciplinary action and show himself or herself to be reformed, with no new incidents, for a minimum of 12 months before admission to Unity will be considered.
